An introduction to world warfare one:
The First macrocosm War was 1914 to 1918, it was caused by mainly the assassination of the Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand of the Austria-Hungary Empire. This started a war between the Austria-Hungary Empire and Serbia. Both these countries had extensive alliances with early(a) countries and soon dragged most major European countries in to the conflict. The war was fought by primarily the allies Britain, France and Russia and the central powers Germany, Austro-Hungary and Turkey. The war is illustrious for the first major use of trench warfare which take to a huge stalemate in the Western Front.
The strategic purpose of the case:
The purpose of the Gallipoli or Dardanelles campaign was to turn over a new front to relieve the built up western front, Russia could no longer get supplies by sea as the Ottoman Empire had joined the central powers so the purpose of this campaign was to break through and establish a steady sea supply route. They planned to do this by capturing the Ottoman Empire capital of Constantinople with combined efforts from Britain, France and the Anzacs. The campaign took tail end between April 25, 1915 and January 9, 1916.
