Description of speculation: Ida Orlandos Deliberative Nursing Process Theory focuses on the inter action between the nurse and enduring, perception validation, and the use of the nursing process to produce positive outcomes or patient good(Faust, 2002, para. 1). It is a process that involves nurse-patient collaboration where in the nurses intervention depends upon the patients active involvement in determining both the cause of the distress and also an action which may reduce the distress(Potter & Bockenhauer, 2000, para. 5). This theory is patient centered and focused on reducing patients distress. In order to do this according to Alligood (2010) the nurse has to focus on the patients and their needs and validating them before intervening kinda than assuming their problems and make random decisions.





Theorys historical background: Ida Jean Orlando was a professor at Yale University in the 1950s. She was also Director of the Graduate Program in psychic Health Psychiatric Nursing in Yale. According to Alligood (2010), Yale legitimate a National Institute of Mental Health impart where Ida Orlando became the project investigator. Orlando developed the Deliberative Nursing Process Theory from observation she recorded of interactions between nurses and patients and one of the first theorists to carry through about the nursing process according to her observations (Faust, 2002, para. 1).
