Abstract

In this dissertation I will write round Eleuthere Irenee Du Pont de Nemours, the fo beneath of the Du Pont Corporation that we know today. I will controvert a little bit of E.I. Du Ponts history before starting his business and will give a tone as to where his business began, what it has endured and where it is at today.

Euthere Irenee Du Pont de Nemours , an entrepreneur, manufacturer and businessman, born in Paris, France on June 24th, 1771. The son of a watchmaker, E.I. had a trust to defraud about explosives and even studied with Antoine Lavoisier (known as the father chemistry) who notice the affects oxygen had on combustion.
After the French revolution, E.I. fled to the United States with the swear of expanding on his expertise in the field of explosives. And in 1802, he opened a powder mill on the banks of the Brandywine River in Delaware with an intense desire to produce the best powder ever. His desire and drive paid off as in the end, he won contracts from the U.S. government to supply the army with his powder passim the war of 1812.
Unfortunately for E.I. an explosion rocked the mill around the 1900s killing many.



This incident coupled with mounting debt, led to E.I.s son, Henry Du Pont taking over the confederacy. Rumor has it that Henry was sensibly of a tyrant when it came to the family business as well as how he dealt with the family itself. It seems that everything the Du Pont family members have from land to holdings was all actually owned by the company and since Henry controlled the company, he then in turn controlled the family.
Henry brought to the forefront of the company, Lamont, his nephew who had the talent to take the company into a new field, dynamite!
